Here are some ideas to help get you started with your research:
Death & Beliefs – What did people believe about death? What ceremonies were followed? What happened to people after they were dead? Afterlife? What if the ceremonies were not followed? Were they different for men and women? Literature & the Illiad- was the Illiad originally written in 750BC? What was the purpose of poems and stories? Trojan War- when? Who was involved? Why? Effects? Geographical changes, interesting facts Gods- which ones are relevant to the Illiad and what role did they play in daily life of the people? were they liked/respected/feared etc? Homer- who was he? When did he live/write/die? What themes did he wish to convey? What were his works based on? How was he received? [Did people like/hate/enjoy his work] Cultural Value systems during this time: social attitudes, how were men and women treated? patriarchal/ matriarchal society? education was important? what was considered to be most valuable in life ?- eg-money/ status/fame/righteousness/ generosity/strength Writing Comparative Essays
